ABOUT THE ARTIST
Allison Eklund is a Twin Cities artist and equine attorney. She grew up in Minnesota owning and showing horses until college, and then worked summers on dude ranches in Colorado as a horse wrangler and pack trip guide. After graduating from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota with double majors in art and art history, she pursued a career in law without leaving art behind. She discovered plein air painting in 2007 and enjoys applying those techniques to painting horses from direct observation. In paintings, drawings, and prints, she portrays horses with affection for their gestural personalities in settings that distill memories of horseback adventures and the beauty of landscapes where horses and horse culture thrive.
